Well, Arafat got the peace prize after all

Krugman has been on the short list since long before his newspaper columns turned him into a left wing star. I can't help but suspect, though, that picking him now was in no small part a political decision calculated to maximize the impact of his left wing newspaper columns. The timing also reminds me of the timing of the two Lancet journal articles on the Iraq war death toll, each one released just days before an American election.
