A Hypocrite Politician? Never

Elliot Spitzer's political career is over

Gov. Eliot Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, an administration official said this morning. [...]

But a person with knowledge of the governor’s role said that the person believes the governor is one of the men identified as clients in court papers. [...]

Mr. Spitzer gained national attention when he served as attorney general with his relentless pursuit of Wall Street wrongdoing. As attorney general, he also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.

He had ambitions for the Presidency but Americans are mercifully saved from that development.

Honey, Plz!

From WSJ:

Mr. Spitzer spent yesterday afternoon in his New York City apartment with his wife, daughters and other family members. His brother, Daniel Spitzer, a neurosurgeon, said: "If men never succumbed to the attractions of women, then the human species would have died out a long time ago."

Uh huh. Try spinning that one past Silda Spitzer, Danny.

I can see it now, the defeated Governor standing among suitcases & strewn clothes on his front lawn, pleading to his wife, "Honey, I've been selected for reproductive success - it's not my fault!! Honey, plz...!!"

In fact, some variant of "I was following an instinct" could be applied to pretty much anything people do that pisses other people off. Wears thin quickly as an excuse.

His wife's strongest

His wife's strongest comeback is, "I'm following my jealous throwing you out of the house instinct." This is great fun and can be done with anything. Essentially, it's just the age old debate of free will believers and deniers: "I can't be blamed for banging your sister, baby, the world's deterministic." "Then I can't help blaming you. Also, I've got [insert VD] (also not my fault)."
