Today in the Drug War

The US State Department issued the following statement yesterday:

[P]olice forces suffer from lack of funds and training, and the judicial system is weak, overworked and inefficient," the warning said. "Criminals, armed with an impressive array of weapons, know there is little chance they will be caught and punished."

OK, this was in regard to Mexico and its escalatingly violent drug war. But the same thing could be said of our own inept drug war and nobody would really argue. Seriously, if you go read the article, you'll see official statements that show rare understanding of the effects of prohibition - which just makes me more angry.
