It seems that, in addition to arrogance, racism is a trait commonly associated with Americans that some of our European counterparts are also guilty of. (Here I side with Jonathan on a new American allegation of racism, which comes to my attention on the same day.)

The story is that some black English footballers were insulted by a large number of Spanish fans in Madrid. Already the shameful conduct of these fans has been either defended or glossed over by the Spanish press, but apparently there's been some fighting about this already so there's a lot I don't know.

If it hadn't been for Apologies Accepted a few days ago I wouldn't have thought much about this. A little arrogance goes a long way.
