Lucas on college and life

Rachel Lucas is getting ready to graduate college and writes about her experience 'paying her dues'.

I have a GPA of 3.9 (on a scale of 4) and will graduate Summa Cum Laude next month. I've taken physics, statistics, anatomy & physiology, and have a minor in history with a major in communication technology, but I've only made three B's in college, all of them in the last year - I actually had a perfect 4.0 until last summer. Point being, it is possible to do well in college even when one is overwhelmed with other crap. The last thing I want is to discourage younger people to put themselves through school.[...]

I have perfect credit. I bought and sold a house in my mid-20s, I own my car outright, and I haven't paid a bill late since I was 19. Point being, it is possible to struggle one's ass off and be poor for years while in school, and still make it through with one's credit intact. Again, the last thing I want to do is discourage younger people or make them think that there's some big catch to all this. There's not. It all comes down to focus and determination. And priorities.

Rachel has plenty to be proud of.
